The five-week UNEP/MAP – MEPIELAN Online Training School on Sustainable Marine Governance in the Mediterranean (13 October–13 November), an important international educational event designed and developed by UNEP/MAP and the MEPIELAN Centre and organized in cooperation with the EPLO, was completed with great success.
It offered an innovative, interdisciplinary educational journey that brought together academia and key international organizations — including UNEP/MAP, the Aarhus Convention Secretariat, the European Environment Agency, and the OSCE — and created a genuine academic and expert learning space marked by high-quality instruction, practical exchange, and active participation across countries, time zones, and institutional boundaries.
Over 18 lectures, the complex landscape of sustainable marine governance in the Mediterranean and beyond was thoroughly and authoritatively explored by eminent professors and distinguished experts and officers of international organizations through thought-provoking, forward-looking perspectives . The successful completion of this Training School opens new avenues, including the next UNEP/MAP–MEPIELAN–EPLO Training School, an important step toward a future joint international master's program.
The Academic Director of the Training School was Professor Evangelos Raftopoulos, MEPIELAN Centre.
