The European Group of Public Law (EGPL): A leading network in European Public Law
The European Group of Public Law (EGPL) is a European network of judges, jurists, legal scholars, and practitioners, established in 1989 to advance and shape the development of European Public Law.
EGPL was the driving force behind key initiatives that led to the creation of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), including the launch of the European Review of Public Law, which remains EPLO’s flagship publication. Today, EGPL serves as the EPLO’s scientific advisory body, providing strategic recommendations and essential feedback on its activities. It also evaluates the knowledge generated through EPLO’s work, assessing its relevance and impact within broader political and sociological contexts.
Since its inception, EGPL has convened annual conferences under the title “EGPL Annual Reunion”, where members present and discuss reports on a collectively selected theme. These reports are published in the European Review of Public Law, contributing to the ongoing scholarly dialogue on public law in Europe.
Over more than two decades of pioneering work, EGPL has steadily expanded its membership, now comprising 266 leading figures in the field — judges, jurists, academics, and practitioners appointed in institutions such as the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the Conseil d’État of France, and various Constitutional and High Courts. EGPL stands today as one of the most innovative and influential legal associations in Europe.
2025 EGPL Reunion: International Law, European Union Law, Constitutional Law.
12-14 September at the EPLO premises in Legraina, Sounio, Greece.
