The EPLO Director's Visit to the Pan European University in Bratislava and the Establishment of the Pan European Bratislava Meetings Lecture Series

The EPLO Director, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, visited the Pan European University in Bratislava, Slovakia, a new member University of the EPLO Board of Directors, on 10 October, commencing a new and productive era for the relations of the two institutions.

The EPLO Director met with University Dean, Professor Jaroslav Ivor, the Deputy Dean, Professor Peter Potasch, and Professor Slavomir Rudenko, to discuss and decide on new initiatives and ideas furthering the cooperation between the institutions.

The establishment of a series of annual lectures entitled “The Pan European Bratislava Meetings” to take place at the premises of the Pan European University and co-organized by the University and the EPLO, the latter responsible for also inviting the Professors and personalities who will give the lectures, and addressed to High Court judges, politicians and lawyers was agreed. The lecture series will be launched by the EPLO Director himself who will give a lecture on the topic “Failure to Reform (?): Lessons from Greece” on 23 November 2011.

In addition, the contribution of the Law Faculty of the University in the European Review of Public Law (ERPL), the EPLO main edition, a scientific quarterly edition of high-quality articles concerned with the development of European Public Law and the separate public law systems of the EU Member states and Candidate states for EU membership, the evolution of the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, was agreed. This contribution was proposed to focus on the publication of the chronicles on Slovak constitutional and administrative law in the ERPL on an annual basis.

The participation of Law Faculty members in the European Group of Public Law, the EPLO Scientific Council, Annual Reunion meetings, as well as the promotion of the Academy of European Public Law to students of the Pan European University were discussed in the framework of advancing the cooperation between the two institutions and strengthening their relations.
