The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) was held on Thursday 10th September at the Organization’s premises in Sounion, bringing together representatives of EPLO Member States, public authorities, universities and international organizations, alongside members of the Organization’s leadership and representatives of its various entities.
The meeting was honoured by the presence of Nikos Hardalias, Governor of Attica, who was invited by EPLO Director Professor Spyridon Flogaitis. During his visit, Governor Hardalias highlighted the international role of EPLO and its longstanding contribution to legal education, research, institutional development and democratic governance, as well as the importance of the strategic cooperation between the Region of Attica and EPLO.
The Governor also toured EPLO’s recently upgraded facilities in Sounion, which form part of an ongoing program supported by the Region of Attica, with a total budget of €1.5 million. The programme supports the modernization of EPLO’s infrastructure across its premises in Legrena, Plaka and Kolonaki, including the development of flexible teaching spaces, the expansion of the library, upgrades to electromechanical, lighting, water and air-conditioning systems, improvements in energy efficiency and accessibility, and the enhancement of external areas and parking facilities.
EPLO warmly acknowledges and appreciates the support of the Region of Attica and its investment in the Organization’s infrastructure and future development. This important contribution strengthens EPLO’s capacity to host international educational, scientific and research activities and reflects a shared commitment to enhancing Attica’s role as a centre for knowledge, law and institutional cooperation.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Hardalias underlined that the Region’s support goes beyond investment in buildings and equipment, representing an investment in an international institution whose work contributes to Greece’s presence on the global map of knowledge, law and institutions. He also described the cooperation between the Region of Attica and EPLO as strategic and expressed his commitment to its further development.
The Board of Directors, EPLO’s governing body, subsequently reviewed the Organization’s activities and achievements over the past year and discussed priorities and objectives for the period ahead. Professor Spyridon Flogaitis presented developments across EPLO’s areas of work, including education and training, research, institutional development and international cooperation, as well as key developments across the Organization’s wider network and entities.
The annual meeting was attended by representatives of EPLO Member States, public authorities, universities and other institutions, as well as permanent observers, representatives of EPLO Missions to the United Nations, members of the Executive Committee, Directors of EPLO Departments and representatives of the Organization’s various entities.
The meeting reaffirmed EPLO’s commitment to advancing public law and legal education, strengthening institutions and democratic governance, and fostering international cooperation in education, research and institutional development.
The visit by the Governor of Attica also highlighted the importance of EPLO’s continued partnership with the Region and its shared commitment to strengthening the Organization’s presence and contribution in Greece and internationally.
