EPLO Renews Cooperation with Brčko District Through New Memorandum of Understanding

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) has further strengthened its longstanding cooperation with Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming the shared commitment of both parties to advancing public sector reform, institutional development, capacity building, and training initiatives.

The MoU was signed during a meeting between EPLO Director Professor Spyridon Flogaitis and the Mayor of Brčko District, marking the beginning of a renewed phase of collaboration between the Organization and the District.

During the discussions, the two sides exchanged views on the future development of EPLO's activities in Brčko and explored opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas related to governance, reforms, professional training, and institutional support. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing EPLO's presence in the District and ensuring the conditions necessary for the effective operation of its local premises.

Professor Flogaitis expressed his appreciation for the trust shown by the District authorities and reaffirmed EPLO's commitment to supporting local institutions through its extensive experience in public law, governance, capacity-building programmes, and technical assistance. He also extended an invitation to the Mayor to visit EPLO Headquarters in Athens in order to gain first-hand insight into the Organization's activities and to further strengthen institutional ties as the partnership enters a new stage.

Looking ahead, EPLO and Brčko District intend to organize a joint high-level event at the EPLO premises in Brčko in early 2027. The event is expected to bring together representatives of public authorities, academia, civil society, and other stakeholders to mark this new chapter in the Organization's engagement with the District and to explore future avenues of cooperation.

The successful renewal of this cooperation is also the result of the longstanding efforts of Professor Goran Marković, Director of the EPLO Office in Brčko. Through his sustained commitment and active engagement over many years, Professor Marković has contributed significantly to strengthening the relationship between the European Public Law Organization and the institutions of Brčko District, paving the way for this renewed phase of collaboration.

The signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding reflects EPLO's continued commitment to supporting democratic governance, institutional effectiveness, and public sector modernization throughout South-East Europe. It also reaffirms the strong partnership that has developed over many years between the Organization and Brčko District, a partnership built through the sustained efforts of local and international stakeholders and now entering a promising new chapter.
