Meeting with Former Prime Minister George Papandreou at the EPLO Headquarters

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. George Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece, to its Headquarters on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, for a constructive discussion regarding the Organization’s mission and future directions.

During the meeting, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, Director of the EPLO, presented the Organization’s history, its evolution into an international institution, and its wide range of activities in the fields of public law, governance, education, and the strengthening of institutional resilience within modern societies. The discussion highlighted the EPLO’s longstanding commitment and role across the four main pillars that structure its work—research, education and training, institutional and technical cooperation, and academic publications—all aimed at promoting the rule of law, democracy, and human rights.

Through its activities, the Organization contributes to:

  • legal advisory support to national authorities
  • the transfer of knowledge to legal professionals, public officials, future leaders and students
  • the support of governments and public and private bodies at the international level in promoting human rights, the rule of law, and administrative reform
  • the promotion of scientific dialogue in the field of constitutional and administrative law.

Mr. Papandreou expressed his appreciation for the Organization’s international role and its contribution to strengthening democratic governance, institutional development, and legal education. Mr. Papandreou and Professor Flogaitis, along with their teams, agreed on potential areas of future cooperation, particularly in initiatives that advance democracy and civic participation.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared belief that democracy, good governance, and the rule of law remain essential foundations for sustainable development and international cooperation—principles that lie at the core of the EPLO’s mission.
