PROJECT TITLE: Creation of a Branch of the European Public Law Organization in Iran
COUNTRIES: Iran
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To contribute to the successful operation of the new Parliament of Iran, encourage and promote smooth conduct of political dialogue, transmit European Public Law ideals and the most excellent legal practices in the country.
Through the creation of a branch of EPLC in Tehran the EPLC intends to promote European values through public law in a fruitful dialogue with local cultures.Through the branch in Tehran, the project aims at offering services to all 28 regions of Iran, as well as in the neighboring countries: Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
ACTIVITIES:
The project included:
- Organization of five day seminar in Tehran, for selected members of various ministries, jurists and law students, on the “Judicial Regime of NGOs”;
- Organization of five day seminar in Tehran, for selected members of various ministries, jurists and law students, on “Electoral Systems”;
- An expert mission in Tehran with the participation of Greek experts and academics;
- Organization of a study visit of five Iranian law students in Greece during which the students have had the chance to meet with Greek authorities and to attend the EGPL Academy.
