Postgraduate Degree Programs

The ELGS taught postgraduate degrees that focus on legal and governance studies and enable students to specialize in EU law or governance issues. A further specialization under each degree program allows students to gain expertise on the banking system in the EU, EU governance, and much more.

The Postgraduate degrees of the ELGS are one-year taught degree programs followed by one semester of independent research with a thesis requirement, earning a total of 90 ECTS credits. Courses are led by key theorists and practitioners in their fields, and delivered through classic lectures and interactive tutorials. Some courses will also integrate other teaching methodologies where appropriate, such as moot courts, site visits to various public and private offices, as well as group presentations. Students must successfully complete 6 compulsory modules and 2 optional modules, followed by a 15,000-word thesis.

The ELGS offers the following options within the postgraduate level of study:

LLM in EU Law (Athens and Rome)

This one-year taught degree program is offered both in Rome and Athens campuses and offers students an in-depth look at key issues of European Union law, and enables students to choose from a variety of elective courses addressing the most pressing themes being discussed throughout Europe 

LLM in International Economic Law (Athens)

EPLO’s LLM in IEL (International Economic Law) is offered in the Athens campus and constitutes a one-year taught degree program of excellence and outstanding legal education. The AIELPO (Academy of International Economic Law and Policy) in corroboration with the ELGS offers a full-time Master of Laws (LL.M.) program on IEL, an à la carte modality based on the full-time LL.M. program where participants can take specific courses for specialization purposes, with arrangements made with key partners and institutions to facilitate a constant flow of professionals for à la carte training. Its core focus on trade and investment law and policy equips participants with a sound understanding of world economic affairs as applicable to international trade exchanges and foreign direct investment.

LLM in International Organizations  (Cascais Campus)

The LL.M. in International Organizations is offered exclusively at the ELGS campus in Cascais, Portugal and is designed for individuals who aspire to shape the future of global governance through a deep understanding of the legal frameworks that underpin international organizations. Whether you are a recent law, international relations, or political science graduate, a legal professional, a policy maker, an academic, a researcher, or a professional working in an international environment, this program will equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complex legal landscape of international institutions such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the European Union. 

MA in Governance (Athens and Rome)

This one-year taught degree program is offered both in Rome and Athens campuses and offers students an in-depth look at key issues of Governance, and enables students to choose from a variety of elective courses addressing the most pressing themes being discussed throughout Europe 

MA in Global Rule of Law and Democracy (Cascais Campus)

This 1-year degree program is offered exclusively at the ELGS campus in Cascais, Portugal under the auspices and guidance of the EPLO GLOBAL RULE OF LAW COMMISSION. The Global Rule of Law and Democracy Master offers specialized courses that sharpen the comparative approach, initiated from a national–constitutional perspective and leading to the international level. 

Inter-university Master in European and Comparative Public Law (ECPL) By ELGS and Sapienza Universities (Rome)

This one year taught degree program is a course in law, political, democratic and governmental fields and encompasses a wide range of topics from the constitutional to the administrative law fields and is offered in collaboration with Sapienza University of Rome, in Rome Italy.
