The Institute of Forensic Sciences of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is pleased to be a partner of MALPRACTICE 2026: International Conference on Medical Malpractice – Obstetrics & Gynecology, organized by the Balkan Academy of Forensic Sciences (BAFS).
The conference will take place from 8 to 11 October 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye, in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either on-site or online.
MALPRACTICE 2026 is the inaugural meeting of a new international conference series dedicated to examining medical malpractice from multidisciplinary and comparative perspectives. Its first edition focuses on obstetrics and gynecology, an area in which clinical decision-making, forensic assessment, legal responsibility, patient safety and institutional accountability are closely interconnected.
The conference will bring together obstetricians and gynecologists, forensic medicine specialists, forensic scientists, legal professionals, medical law scholars, patient-safety experts, policymakers, insurers, risk-management professionals and researchers.
The scientific programme will address topics including:
• Obstetric malpractice and perinatal injury
• Gynecologic surgical complications
• Forensic evaluation of alleged malpractice
• Informed consent and patient autonomy
• Medical expert witnessing and court practices
• Comparative medical liability systems
• Ethics, professionalism and patient safety
