Circular Gaia Symposium 2026: Advancing Circularity, Sustainabilityand Regional Cooperation

The Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Climate Institute of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is pleased to announce the Circular Gaia Symposium 2026, which will take place on 9-10 October 2026 in Athens, Greece and on 11 October 2026 in Cairo Egypt.

Building on the success of previous editions, the Circular Gaia Symposium has developed into an international platform for high-level dialogue on the transition towards a circular, climate-neutral and resilient economy, bringing together representatives of governments, European and international institutions, academia, business, civil society and the financial sector.

The 2026 edition will place particular emphasis on the growing need for regional cooperation across Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean and neighbouring regions, recognising that the climate, energy and environmental challenges facing countries today cannot be effectively addressed in isolation.

From Circular Economy to Regional Resilience

Circular Gaia 2026 will address some of the most pressing dimensions of the green transition, including circular economy and resource efficiency, climate action and resilience, energy transition and carbon neutrality, sustainable cities and islands, blue economy, sustainable tourism, aviation and shipping, green finance and ESG, digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, as well as environmental governance and international cooperation.

A central objective of this year's Symposium is to strengthen dialogue between Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, creating new opportunities for institutional, scientific and private-sector cooperation.

Particular attention will be devoted to the Mediterranean and Egypt, reflecting the growing importance of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in areas such as the blue economy, energy, climate resilience, circular economy, sustainable infrastructure and investment.

Connecting Policy, Business and Science

The Symposium is designed not only as a forum for discussion, but as a meeting point where public policy, scientific expertise, investment and practical business solutions converge.

Through a series of high-level panels and thematic discussions, participants will explore how regulatory frameworks, technological innovation, finance and international partnerships can accelerate implementation of the green transition while strengthening competitiveness and social and economic resilience.
Circular Gaia seeks to bridge the gap between policy commitments and real-world implementation by fostering dialogue among policymakers, international organisations, municipalities and regions, universities, investors, businesses and environmental experts.

A Growing International Platform

The Circular Gaia Symposium continues to expand its international network, building connections between institutions and stakeholders across Europe, Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean and the wider international community.

The 2026 programme will bring together distinguished representatives and experts from the public and private sectors to exchange experience, identify opportunities for cooperation and develop new perspectives on the future of circularity, climate governance and sustainable development.
An additional dedicated discussion on “Green AI, Information Integrity & Climate” will further explore the rapidly evolving relationship between Artificial Intelligence, sustainability, environmental information and climate governance.

At a time when geopolitical developments, climate change, resource pressures and technological transformation are increasingly interconnected, Circular Gaia 2026 aims to provide a space for constructive dialogue, partnerships and actionable solutions capable of supporting a more sustainable and resilient future.

The Symposium will take place on 9 and 10 October 2026 in Athens.
