The Sustainable Development Goals Center (SDGs Center) on Governance and Public Law, a joint initiative of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and the European Law & Governance School launched its activities with a reception at the Residence of the British Ambassador in Athens on October 1, 2018. Members of the founding organizations, of the academia as well as representatives of the private and public sectors attended the launch event.
Drawing on the experience and expertise of its founding institutions and their networks the Center is uniquely positioned to support both the public and private sector in the implementation of the SDGs. The SDGs Center on Governance and Public Law services include:
• Capacity building and training programs, enabling organizations to develop the knowledge, skills, leadership and practice relating to the implementation of the SDGs, including strategy, operations, governance and measurement
• Strategic guidance and operational support, to help institutions in the public and private sectors address the complexity of cross-sectoral policies and activities and develop structures and systems to optimize funding, partnerships and impact in relation to sustainable development
• Research, to support implementation and establish best practice in the areas of governance, collaboration, governance and institutional capability and leadership to deliver the SDGs, working with partners to create the evidence base and provide practical tools.
The SDGs Center initiated its activities as the co-organizer along with the Economist Events of the "Second Sustainability Summit for SE Europe and the Mediterranean" that took place on October 1-2, 2018, in Athens.
Mr. Spyros Kouvelis, Program Director of the SDGs Center, Mr. Aris Vrettos of the CISL and Senior Advisor of the Center, and Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, EPLO Director, addressed the conference.
