The Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX) of the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission, and the European Public Law Center (EPLC) co-organized a seminar on the “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights - Protection against Piracy, Illegal Trade and Counterfeiting” on 29 and 30 June, in Athens, with the participation of 42 public officials from the Ministries of Justice, the Judiciary and Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as Customs Authorities of the Western Balkan countries and Turkey, as well as speakers from eight EU Member States, namely, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The seminar aimed at strengthening the capacities of the civil servants coming from potential and candidate countries to the European Union in the enforcement of intellectual property rights, according to the EU standards, and in this way supporting these countries in the adoption and implementation of the Acquis Communautaire.
