Round-table discussion under the subject “Modern State and Development”

A round table discussion under the subject “Modern State and Development” was organized by the Institute for Justice and Development of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) on Wednesday 22nd of June 2016 at 18.30 – 21.00 hrs at the  premise of the EPLO in Plaka district.

The main theme of the discussion was the transparency on public works and the Public Contracts' Regulations, an area that needs reform in Greece.

This was the third public discussion within the series of scientific events under the main topic "Law as a pillar of development" initiated by the Institute on April 2016.

The Moderator of the discussion was the Honorary Chairman of the Council of State Mr Constantinos Menoudakos and the main speakers included:

- Leandros Rakintzis, former General Inspector of Public Administration

- Dimitrios Raikos, judge at the Court of the United Nations, an associate professor of Public Law and Political Science of the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace, former Chairman of the Hellenic Single Public Procurement Authority, 

- Konstantinos Kousoulis, Counsellor of State          

- Nikolaos Mantzoufas, Special Secretary for Public-Private Partnerships                           

- Christos Gortsos, Professor at Panteion University, Secretary General of the Hellenic Bank Association and 

- Εlias Papaioannou, Professor of Economics at London Business School

Welcome speeches were given  by Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, Director of the EPLO and Mr. Nikolas Kanellopoulos, President of the Institute for Justice and Development.
