The ReBoat Project kicks off in Aeolian Islands with strong local representation

The ReBoat project held its plenary meeting in Lipari, Aeolian Islands, from 8–10 September 2025. The event kicked off with strong local support, including an opening by the Vice-Mayor of Lipari. Key topics included pilot setup, community engagement, and developing digital tools. Site visits explored potential locations for the mobile ReBoat plant, including municipal areas, rooftops and central spots in Lipari's old town.

Workshops and working package sessions addressed the design of a modular mobile recycling plant (WP3), sustainable tourism innovations (WP4), and communication strategies (WP6). A stakeholder workshop brought together hoteliers, local officials, educators, and others, discussing ReBoat's local relevance and feasibility.

The final day focused on pilot validation, replication across EU islands (WP7), and project management (WP8). The event concluded with a clear vision for Lipari's role in ReBoat's future and deepened ties between the consortium and the island's community and heritage.
