Justice is a guarantee  for development

Justice is the best guarantee for development and social well-being. This was the conclusion of  the public debate organized by the Institute for Justice and Development of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at the premise of the EPLO in the historic Plaka district of Athens, under the title "Effective justice and development".

It was the second debate within the circle of scientific events with main topic "Law as a pillar of development" that started with  “The contribution of law in the country's development" on April, 2016.

Moderator of the discussion was the Vice-President of the Council of State, Athanasios Rados and the main speakers included:  George Triantafyllakis, Professor of commercial law at the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace, Kyriakos Ekonomou, President of the Court of Appeal, Panos Panagiotopoulos, Prosecutor, Polychronis Tsiridis, Lawyer NR, Vassilis Androulakis, senior member of the Council of State and George Gerapetritis, Associate Professor of constitutional law, Faculty of law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

In his salutation, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, Director of the EPLO, said that the Institute was founded to provide a set of specialized and innovative consulting services, such as education and training services, technical assistance to organizations and countries to improve justice systems and the environment of business and investment as well as the use of information technologies in the field of public governance and justice (e-government, e-justice).

He also mentioned that May 18th, 2016 was a historic day of EPLO as the Italian President Sergio Mattarella presented the European law and Governance School (ELGS) created by the EPLO at the Presidential Palace Quirinale in Rome .

Nicolas Kanellopoulos, President of the Institute for Justice and Development in his welcome speech he talked about the interaction of Law and Development, stressed the need for the redesign of the legal map of Greece with the pre-requisite of any reform, the need to changie the mindsets of all those involved in the administration of Justice.
