On the 21st of November 2025 the Region of Lazio and EPLO co-organized a very successful workshop entitled "Entrepreneurial competitiveness and digitalization/Competitività imprenditoriale e digitalizzazione" at the EPLO Office in Rome at Palazzo Altemps.
The workshop was themed around entrepreneurial competitiveness and digitalization, aiming to achieve a multi-level approach and impact capacity building and information enhancement of SMEs, the entrepreneurial community and citizens.
Speakers from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT), the Region of Lazio and the Hellenic Industrial Property Organization (OBI) presented the latest developments regarding SMEs and entrepreneurs at both the EU and international level.
All attendants were welcomed by Dr. Andrea De Carolis, Head of General Affairs at the Directorate of Tourism, Cinema, Audiovisual, and Sports of the Region of Lazio and by Prof. Bernardo Giorgio Matarella Director of the EPLO Office in Rome and Professor at Luiss Guido Carli University.
Mr. Gianluca Scialanga, Head of Unit for Internationalization at the Region of Lazio, presented thoroughly the current framework addressed to SMEs for access to the market and financial instruments both in Italy and at the EU level.
Mr. Raffaele Spallone, Head of the Division for Technology Transfer, Policies for Business Digitalization, Innovation, and Analysis of Productive Sectors (MIMIT), presented the digitalization and technology transfer strategy of the Ministry for Entrepreneurship.
Mrs. Myrto Lambrou Maurer, Head of International Affairs at OBI, presented the EU and international Intellectual Property Protection framework on Business Assets.
The workshop marks a new chapter for cooperation, and was organized in the context of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Lazio Region and EPLO. A series of capacity building initiatives have been scheduled for the mutual exchange of best practices in policy development, focusing on advancing scientific knowledge, dissemination of relevant information, enhancing public awareness, and organizing training and education activities.
