A Regional Office of the European Public Law Organization, situated at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN) in León, Nicaragua, was inaugurated on the 13th of December 2010 by Dr. Róger Gurdian Vigil, Rector of UNAN-León, and Mrs. Maria Zozonaki, EPLO Representative in Nicaragua.
Mr. Ricardo Changala, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Dr. Marvin Jarquín, Director of Social Promotion of UNAN-León, as well as other representatives of the academic world, attended the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration took place at the same location where a one-day conference honoring the creation of Cátedra Dr. Tomás Ruiz Romero, the founder of the University, was held.
The Regional Office in León will serve as a meeting point for academics from Latin America and Europe and will promote European values through public law in Latin America with the support of the European Public Law Organization.
