2nd Webinar on Cleaner Energy and climate neutrality

The Organizational Committee of the International Conference "Circle the Med Forum" which will take place on 9 and 10 November 2020, as a digital event, organized in cooperation with the Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of the EPLO the second online debate on "Cleaner Energy and climate neutrality: new avenues to consider" which forms part of a series of monthly virtual debates on different pillars of the Circular Economy. 

The second online debate took place on Friday, 19 June, 2020 at 16:00 (Athens time) and 15:00 (Brussels time).

With more than a half of humanity on lockdown during this pandemic, a decline in energy demand was inevitable. Energy is just one part of the recovery puzzle, but is a vital one. The choices countries make right now will determine the next generation of energy infrastructure and jobs. They will open or close the space to diversify towards more resilient economies, strongly influenced by Green Deal and the Climate Neutrality targets by 2050.

In this second debate they participated:

Mr. Samuel Furfari, Professor of the geopolitics of energy at University Libre de Bruxelles.

Mr. Markos Damasiotis, Head of the Development Programmes Division of the Hellenic Center for Renewable Energy Sources (CRES) member of the Board of Directors of MEDENER.

Mr. Grammenos Mastrojeni, Senior Deputy Secretary General for Energy and Climate Action- Union for the Mediterranean- UfM.

Mr. Gianni Chianetta, Chairman Global Solar Council and Head of International Affairs of Italia Solare also founder and Director of Greening the Islands.

Mr. George Kremlis, President of the Organizing Committee of the "Circle the Med Forum" and the International Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) was the moderator of the online debate.

The event was hosted at a remote platform and was broadcast via the website of the Circle the Med Forum https://circlethemed.com/and different social media channels of different stakeholders. The recording of the session will be also available for later reviewing.
