PROJECT TITLE: VESTA - Education activities towards the strengthening of vulnerable groups in Vietnam

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To raise awareness of the Vietnamese civil society on human rights issues, in particular in the field of the rights of children and women and against human trafficking in Vietnam. Furthermore, it aims at supporting advocacy actions in order to enhance the capacity of civil society to promote human rights. Through the close cooperation between the EPLC and its partners in Vietnam, the action intends to give an in-depth insight and a wide dissemination of monitoring and respecting of human rights in the region.
The specific objective of the project consisted of the empowerment of the participants (the representatives of Vietnamese NGOs), the students and the academia in order to enhance the respect of the rights of children, women and victims of trafficking. That was achieved through a seminar and a training course for thirty NGO representatives, and extensive informative sessions for twenty universities and fifty schools in Hanoi. Furthermore, leaflets were published and a website set up for the purpose of raising public awareness on human rights throughout Vietnam.
ACTIVITIES:
- One-day kick off meeting in Hanoi for the partners of the consortium
- Five-day training seminar for forty NGO representatives
- One-day informative sessions in twenty universities and fifty schools in Hanoi for the students, researchers and professors
- Publication and distribution of 5,000 informative leaflets and booklets in English and Vietnamese
- Establishment of a website
