PROJECT TITLE: Strengthening the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Armenia

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To support capacity building to the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Armenia. The project purpose is to introduce measures for strengthening the overall IPR enforcement capacity of the main key actors and stakeholders involved: Armenian society – public institutions, private entities and the public at large- for better understanding of and stronger involvement in the protection of intellectual property rights in line with the EU development directions as part of executing the policy and reform strategy.
ACTIVITIES:
The project introduced measures for strengthening the overall Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) enforcement capacity of the Armenian society – public institutions, private entities and the public at large – for better understanding of and stronger involvement in the protection of intellectual property rights in line with the EU development directions and as part of executing the policy and reform strategy of Armenia in relation to IPR enforcement. It involved three thematic components including the strengthening of the IPR enforcement infrastructure in Armenia, the strengthening of IPR enforcement capacity of main stakeholders and the raising of awareness on IPR enforcement.
Activities included: institutional capacity building; an analysis of the existing legal framework and comparative analysis with EU standards and best practices; the identification of issues which require legal amendment; staff training; mobilization and coordination of short term experts; organization of study visits; focused and tailor-made information campaign to raise awareness about the topic.
