PROJECT TITLE: Strengthening the Capacities of the National Assembly of Serbia in the EU Integration Process.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To improve policy, legislation and implementation processes at the central level in view of EU accession of Serbia. In particular, the project aims to increase efficiency, liability and transparency of the Serbian National Assembly particularly in the exercise of its representative role, its legislative function (especially in the process of harmonization of Serbian legislation with the EU acquis and in the implementation follow-up of the adopted legislation) and its oversight function towards the executive.
ACTIVITIES:
The main activities included:
1) Enhancement of the cooperation between the National Assembly and the Government in the law-making process through coordination activities, advices and recommendations on the implementation of the Rules of Procedure, Study Visits, Roundtables and Working Plan, Joint Workshops for Parliament and Government staff;
2) Improvement of working practices of the National Assembly in the adoption of legislation through Trainings, Workshops and Study Visits;
3) Improvement of organizational structure, internal procedures and work practices by the implementation of a new organizational structure, the improvement of financial management, internal procedures and practises and parliamentary research services;
4) Improvement of the exercise of parliamentary oversight function through the development of a roadmap, the enhancement of the relations with Independent State bodies and the assessment of relations with Supreme Audit Institution;
5) Increase of the transparency of the Parliament work by assessing visibility tools, preparing Public Hearings, producing Communication Material and Web Communication, supporting citizens' requests and appeals, organizing seminars and workshops on NARS reporting.
