The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is holding an international conference on the topic: "State Reform for a better Europe" with the participation of a great number of scientists, members of the research and academic community and legal practitioners from Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Greece on 30 and 31 May. The first day is going to take place at the EPLO headquarters in Athens (Achaiou 16, Kolonaki), and the second at the EPLO premises in Legraina, Sounion (64th km. Athens-Sounion Ave.).

The purpose of the conference is to connect two parallel themes, which are not always examined simultaneously. On the one hand, there is the need to find appropriate supranational governance mechanisms in Europe, especially in the Eurozone, and on the other hand there is the identification of the reforms in the various member states, which are appropriate for responding to the new political structures of Europe and of the globalized economy.

Institutional problems in the process of European integration and reform failings within member states are escalating simultaneously, creating a vicious circle that prevents European integration and undermines solidarity among the member states.

It is therefore necessary to examine various theoretical and practical areas of the European and national laws using different approaches.
At the conference, among other issues, the legal and political structures of EU member states in the framework of European integration will be analyzed, and the tracing of adequate methods for achieving successful outcomes for reforms in the member states will be discussed.

The conference is co-organized by the EPLO, the Institute for Studies in Competition Law and Policy (IMEDIPA), the Research Institute of Procedural Studies, the Griechischer Humboldt-Club Athens and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law, and sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Speeches will be in German and English with simultaneous interpretation. For more information and registration please contact Mrs. Alessia Fiumi at +3022920 69811, e-mail: afiumi@eplo.eu

The conference is dedicated to the memory of John Anastopoulos (1942-1997), Professor of Public Law of the University of Athens.
