For more than three decades, the European Group of Public Law (EGPL) — the Scientific Council of the European Public Law Organization — has gathered some of Europe’s most eminent judges, jurists, and scholars each September for its Annual Reunion. In 2026, thirty-five years since the very first Reunion on the island of Spetses in 1991, the EPLO opens its doors, for the first time, to a new generation.
Founded in 1989, the European Group of Public Law is a network of judges, jurists, academics, and practitioners dedicated to advancing the development of European public law. Its members — leading figures appointed to institutions such as the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the Conseil d’État of France, and constitutional and high courts across the continent — convene each year at the EGPL Annual Reunion to present and debate reports on a collectively chosen theme, subsequently published in the European Review of Public Law. This September, at the EPLO campus in Legrena, Cape Sounion, that community gathers once more — and this time, it invites students and young people to take a seat in the room.
The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is proud to launch the EGPL Young Fellows & Volunteers Program 2026: a rare chance to spend three days inside a landmark international event, to build relationships with leading figures in law and governance, and to begin your own path in the field from the very place where it is shaped. The Program offers two complementary tracks — and applicants are required to apply to one track only.
Young Fellows: An Academic Opportunity
Open to students and recent graduates in law and governance, up to the age of 35. A competitively selected group of 10–15 Fellows attend the Reunion and engage with the prestigious EGPL network. Following the Reunion, each Fellow develops a short paper on the 2026 Reunion thematic — New Challenges for the State — published as an “EGPL Paper” in the new EGPL Repository. Mentoring arrangements are communicated to Fellows after acceptance. Fellows are expected on site from 11 September and receive a Certificate of Participation.
Volunteers: Experience the inner workings of an International Organization
Open to young people aged 18 to 27 from any field of study. Volunteers help run the Reunion and attend its sessions when off duty, gaining direct exposure to an international community of judges, jurists, academics, and practitioners. Volunteers are expected on site from 10 September for briefing and set-up, and receive an EPLO/EGPL Volunteer Certificate. Selection is on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged.
Participation in both tracks is free of charge. Please note that all other expenses, including travel, accommodation, and any other costs, are not covered by the EPLO. Applicants who would like the EPLO’s assistance in this regard are welcome to contact Ms. Ajroud with any queries.

Young Fellows
Eligibility:
- Currently studying or a recent graduate in a field such as Law, Political Science, Governance, or a related discipline
- Up to 35 years of age
- Available on site from 11 to 13 September 2026

Volunteers

- Available on site from 10 to 13 September 2026 (Volunteers arrive on 10 September for briefing and set-up)
