An internationally renowned scholar and historian, well known to the Greek people by his books, Professor Sir Richard J. Evans, was invited to Athens by the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) to give a speech on the timely topic "Migration, Population Transfer and 'Ethnic Cleansing" in Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries" on April13, in Athens.The interesting lecture was about the history of migration flows to and from Europe by the early 20th century until today.
The British Professor Sir Evans, a prolific author of historical books, mostly known by his trilogy about the Third Reich, is today the President of Wolfson College Cambridge.
The speaker was welcomed by the Director of the EPLO Professor Spyridon Flogaitis while the event was initiated by Mr. Theodosis Pelegrinis undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Mr. Nikos Dendias, former minister.
His lecture will be part of the International Lecture Series honoring Manuel Chrysoloras (1350-1415), the Greek scholar credited with spreading Greek literature in the West during the Middle Ages and today viewed as the symbol of the Hellenic contribution to the revival of European Culture.
