Greek Delegation Mission to Chisinau, Moldova

A EPLO delegation comprised of Ms. P. Protopsaltis, Deputy Director of the EPLO, and Mr. P. Gredis, state official of the Hellenic Ministry of Economics and Finance, former supervisor of the Department of Internal Market at the DG Enlargement, TAIEX expert and EPLO collaborator, visited Chisinau on 20 - 22 June 2007 within the framework of the Project “YPSILANTIS II - Support for legal reform in Moldova for the protection of human decency and the combating of human trafficking particularly for women and children”. 

During this visit, the Greek delegation had several meetings with local authorities and the state officials. Specifically, the Greek Delegation met officials from the Ministry of Justice of Moldova, from the Moldova State University and from the National Coordination Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Trade. Moreover, the Greek delegation was received by representatives of the Parliament and officials of the National Institute of Justice. 

The meetings led to fruitful discussions regarding the integration of Moldova in the European Union, the harmonization of Moldovan legislation with the acquis communautaire, the role of human rights and social freedoms in the reform process, the implementation of projects funded by the European Commission and the training of jurists and judges according to the standards of the European legislation.
