First EPLO Malta Meeting on "The Sovereign Debt Crisis and the New Boundaries of the State”

The EPLO Malta Meetings, aimed at gathering distinguished Europeans to discuss important issues of public law, are a common initiative of Professor Giuliano Amato, former Prime Minister of Italy, and Dr. Michael Frendo, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malta. At the first Meeting, Professor Giuliano Amato, former Prime Minister of Italy, chaired the conference, Mr. Tonio Fenech, Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment of Malta, as well as Mr. Charlais Mangion, Shadow Minister for Economic Development and Financial Services of Malta, were among the keynote speakers, while Professor Yannis Drossos, National and Capodistrian University of Athens, delivered the central speech concerning Greece. Professor Giulio Napolitano, professor of Public Law at the University of Rome was responsible for the scientific part of the event.

Mr. Eddie Fenech Adami, former President of Malta, attended the conference, as did many dignitaries and Ambassadors. The event was broadcasted live by the television channel of the Parliament of Malta. On September 8, 2011, at the EPLO Board of Directors meeting, the EPLO President of the Board of Directors and Director, Prof. Spyridon Flogaitis, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malta, Dr. Michael Frendo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
