Earthshot Prize 2027: ISD–EPLO Invites Submissions for Environmental Solutions

A call for innovators turning bold ideas into measurable impact for people and the planet

Athens, October 19, 2026  — The Institute for Sustainable Development of the European Public Law Organization (ISD–EPLO), an Official Nominator for The Earthshot Prize, invites individuals, communities, businesses and organisations to submit environmental solutions for consideration for the 2027 Prize.

The Earthshot Prize identifies and supports solutions with the potential to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Through its role as an Official Nominator, ISD–EPLO seeks to bring forward initiatives that combine demonstrated results with the ambition and capacity to expand their impact.

Drawing on its work in sustainable development, environmental governance, climate adaptation and the blue economy, the Institute encourages submissions that connect innovation with practical implementation. These may include solutions that restore marine and coastal ecosystems, strengthen water resilience, reduce food waste, advance circular resource use, protect biodiversity or accelerate climate action.

Five goals for a healthier planet

Submissions should contribute to at least one of the five Earthshots:

1.    Protect and Restore Nature
2.    Clean our Air
3.    Revive our Oceans
4.    Build a Waste-Free World
5.    Fix our Climate

Together, these goals provide a framework for accelerating environmental progress towards 2030.

From proven solutions to wider impact

ISD–EPLO welcomes proposals that have moved beyond the idea stage, have been tested in practice and can demonstrate credible environmental benefits.

Applicants should explain how their solution works, the results achieved so far and its potential to reach more people, markets or ecosystems over the next five years.

Alongside technological innovation, the Institute encourages approaches rooted in community leadership, effective governance and business models that make sustainable practices accessible and financially viable.

Submissions will be reviewed by ISD–EPLO to identify solutions to put forward through The Earthshot Prize’s official nomination process. Submission to the Institute does not automatically constitute a nomination or guarantee selection by the Prize.

Global recognition and support

Following nomination, solutions undergo The Earthshot Prize’s independent assessment process. Fifteen finalists are selected, with five winners each receiving £1 million to help scale their solutions.

All 15 finalists also gain access to The Earthshot Fellowship Programme, offering dedicated support, mentorship and opportunities to connect with partners, funders and experts. This support helps innovators strengthen their organisations and accelerate the adoption of their solutions.
