OVERALL OBJECTIVE

The objective of the project “Strengthening the Regulatory Governance of Large-Scale Food Fortification” is to improve the effectiveness of regulatory frameworks governing food fortification by developing a scorecard methodology to assess regulatory systems, identify gaps and strengths and support evidence-based reforms in selected countries. The project aims to generate data, analysis, and indicators to evaluate regulatory performance, guide policy improvements, and facilitate the implementation of regulatory and administrative reforms that promote large-scale food fortification.

ACTIVITIES

EPLO will participate in the following WPs/Activities:

•    Regulatory analysis and assessment of food fortification regulatory delivery systems (design, licensing, enforcement and inspections).
•    Development and refinement of assessment tools, including scoring methodologies, indicators and survey instruments.
•    Preparation of analytical outputs and country reports (including assessments for Indonesia and Bangladesh).
•    Development of policy recommendations and reform strategies tailored to national regulatory frameworks.
•    Design and improvement of risk-based regulatory tools for licensing and inspection systems.
•    Contribution to OECD reports, comparative analyses and good practice guidelines.
•    Technical support to the implementation of regulatory reforms in a selected pilot country.
•    Participation in expert meetings, stakeholder consultations and project coordination activities.
