Country: Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus

Overall objective: The Project pursues both the objectives of training and networking, through the organization of three country seminars, one international workshop and one open conference. It intends to provide interactive and in-depth training to Judges and Prosecutors from Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece, who are involved in the adjudication of EU Competition Law affairs in their countries.

Activities/Components:

1.Three Training Seminars: One intensive training seminar will be held in every Project Country. A total of 50 Judges and Prosecutors will participate to the three Country Seminars: 20 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus and 20 in Greece. The seminars will focus on issues of both general interest and sector-specific interest. The training curriculum of the seminars will be defined in consultation with the judicial authorities in each Project Country.

2.Workshop and draft of project report: A team of 14 judges and prosecutors (5 Greeks, 5 Bulgarians and 4 Cypriots) will be selected following the training seminars. This group will participate in a two-day workshop to be held in Greece. The workshop will focus on discussing the main difficulties in enforcing EU and national competition law in each project jurisdiction and sharing respective experiences and views.

3.Open Conference and Project Report: the Project partners will organize a one-day open international conference in Athens, on «Challenges in the enforcement of EU Competition Law by national judges in Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus». During the conference, the results of the draft report will be presented and discussed with other members of the Judiciary, Academia and Law Practitioners from the Project Countries and other EU Member States. Following the conference, the overall Project Report will be finalized and handed over to the competent authorities in every Project Country for follow-up.
