PROJECT TITLE: Training of Health Inspectors on the Investigation Procedures of Domestic Residential Noise and on the Use of Noise Monitoring Equipment

COUNTRIES: Malta

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To achieve the capacity for the effective implementation of the acquis on Residential Noise, to implement the Noise Regulations and to set up the procedures to be followed in conjunction with the Noise Regulations.

ACTIVITIES:

Project activities included: 

  • Close cooperation of experts and the Public Health Department (PHD) on issues pertaining to residential noise regulation, investigations and monitoring and the training of health inspectors on the necessary procedures and the new regulations;
  • Expert advice provided on the technical specifications concerning residential noise monitoring equipment that was procured and on the elaboration of a set of residential noise investigation and assessment procedures;
  • A study visit by a group of Health Inspectors to Greece in order for them to meet with their counterparts involved in residential noise control. This study visit included relevant meetings with high officials of the competent authority in the view of legal procedures. Site visits and practical site investigations were also included in the program. The study visit took place in February 2006.
