PROJECT TITLE: Support to Agricultural Food Chain in Comprehensive Food Safety Policy
COUNTRIES: Slovak Republic
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To harmonise legal standards, regulations and institutions in the agricultural sector of the Slovak Republic with the food safety Aquis, including, in particular, the relevant Acquis elements concerning the phytosanitary area, veterinary area, and the consumer protection. Moreover, to complete the veterinary and phytosanitary services infrastructure required for the food safety Acquis; and to broaden the activities of both Slovak Veterinary and Food Inspection Authorities and CCTIA to improve the performance of their tasks.
ACTIVITIES:
Project activities included:
- Delivery of series of trainings covering the veterinary EU Directives relating to production and placing of foodstuff of the animal origin in the market; in monitoring of pesticide residues in raw agricultural products; in molecular testing of GMOs and plant pathogens;
- Procurement and installation of equipment for microbiological analysis and GMO testing for selected laboratories in Slovakia; testing of equipment;
- Establishment co-operation with the European Joint Research Centre Ispra aiming at integrating the CCIA Reference Laboratory to the European Network of GMO Laboratories.
