PROJECT TITLE: Restorative justice in cases of domestic violence. Best practice examples between increasing mutual understanding and awareness of specific protection needs.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To generate relevant knowledge on practices of restorative justice, and to identify criteria for offering restorative justice cases of domestic violence so victims can benefit to the maximum extend and in accordance with the new EC Victim’s Directive.
The specific objective of the project is threefold: to get a clear picture of the regulation of RJ/mediation and practical approaches concerning Domestic Violence in different European countries; to get insight in the needs of victims of Domestic Violence concerning restorative justice; and to get insight in the conditions under which restorative justice is possible in cases of Domestic Violence.
ACTIVITIES:
The result will be a guide and manual with a set of rules based on research (evidence-based) and practice-based. Researchers and practitioners from different countries will meet regularly to develop this European guide and a manual.
A network of practitioners will be set up to increase mutual understanding between different judicial systems and restorative justice practices in the member states.
