PROJECT TITLE: KOMNINOI - Modernization of Georgia’s legislation and training of civil servants and judges

COUNTRIES: Georgia 

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: The renewal and modernization of the legislation and the further education of the members of the administrative and judicial body of Georgia focusing on pinpointing the sections of the Georgian legislation that do not correspond to the modern standards, the development of dialogue related to the necessary legislative forms, the provision of guidelines for the support of the necessary reforms, the analysis of the principles and the practices that have to govern the optimum governance and reinforcement of the professional dexterities of the Georgian civil servants.

ACTIVITIES:

The activities of the project included:

  • Setting up and operation of a Steering Committee of the project;
  • Setting up an office in Tbilisi;
  • Two expert missions of European representatives to Georgia in order to meet with the various local authorities and institutions;
  • A one-week study visit to Greece for several Georgian jurists, civil servants and representatives of the Georgian government;
  • Two seminars addressed to jurists and civil servants of Georgia;
  • One three-month scholarship granted to a Georgian jurist.
