PROJECT TITLE: KIKONES II – Training of Balkan and Black Sea States Representatives on the Rule of Law and Democracy

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To promote the Rule of Law and Democracy through the organization of two-week summer sessions at the premises of the EPLO in Maroneia, Komotini. 

ACTIVITIES: 

The project KIKONES II, constituted the second phase of the Project KIKONES that was implemented by the European Public Law Center from 2005 to 2007 and during which one hundred students from the Balkan and Black Sea Countries attended lectures on the Rule of Law and Democracy and one International Conference was organized.

Academics and researchers of the EPLO delivered lectures covering fields of the EU Law, the EU Policies, Human Rights and International Law. 

In total, two hundred students participated in six two-week seminars organized. The participating countries were Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.

Finally, the EPLO organized an International Conference in Komotini entitled “Public Administration in Modern Times: challenges and perspectives”. Twenty five academics, lawyers, Public Administration officials, jurists and members of Non Governmental Organizations delivered a presentation on the following topics: “Towards an effective, efficient and accountable public administration in Europe”,  “Good governance and administration in European administration and law” and  “Beyond national administration - environment”.
