PROJECT TITLE: Implementation of the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive (IPPC)

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To achieve the full alignment of the Slovak environmental legislation with the acquis in the field of the European Directive 96/61/EC on the Integrated Prevention Pollution and Control and to implement and enforce the requirements of this Directive in the Slovak Republic.
ACTIVITIES:
In order to ensure the compliance of the respective Slovak Environmental Law with the acquis, several activities included in the project were necessary. Review of the Slovak legislation and comparison with the EU IPPC legislation was essential. Assessment of the current status of the existing environmental legislation of the Slovak Republic through the identification of gaps, contradictions an inconformity in the IPPC field was a prerequisite of success and correct implementation of the following activities: Development of a registry for the recording and management of data on the IPPC activities according to the IPPC Directive; Development of the national monitoring pollution and emission register for the categories of industrial activities referred to Annex I. of the IPPC Directive; Identification of further steps needed for the institutional strengthening in determination of further needs for collecting analytical data; Development and operation of the Information System on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control; Kick off meeting as well as the Final Conference was organized.
