OVERALL OBJECTIVE

The overall objective of this project is to increase the coordination level and institutional capacity of public authorities, multi-level bodies, programmes, strategies and initiatives in the Mediterranean to make greener, smarter and more resilient the tourism sector for the flourishing of local communities, visitors, and nature, embracing the fourfold approach of the mission: circularity of tourism services, environmental neutrality, sustainable ecosystem services, and cultural and natural preservation of resources.

Dialogue4Tourism project is expected to contribute to Euro-MED Mission#4 Specific Objectives, Green Deal, Union for Mediterranean (UfM) Greener Med Agenda & Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Blue Economy, Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development etc.

ACTIVITIES

Within its main activities, Dialogue4Tourism establishes cooperation and advocacy mechanisms such as Driving Tourism Transition Panel and Hub, Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories deriving from BESTMED, the cross-synergies alliance and the Tourism Leaders Summit. Sustainable Tourism Policy Labs (STPLs) will be also organised. A robust advocacy strategy will be deployed, to bring Mediterranean Tourism in the top of the policy-leaders agendas by ensuring contribution to high-level and high profile events. The project is divided into 3 Work Packages:

  • WP1 ReUse: The objective of WP 1 is to facilitate the exploitation, sharing and reuse of knowledge, experiences and project results by other Interreg Euro-MED projects or other programmes and promote the production of relevant work.  Tasks of this WP are related to:
    • Joint mapping with Thematic Community Projects (TCPs) and Joint Secretariat (JS) of the project’s targeted policy priorities in Tourism and cross-cutting topics at local, national and supranational level
    • Impact Boosting of REUSE through the establishment/enlargement of permanent collaborative networks in coordination with TCP
    • Permanent working group with the TCP and the JS
    • Communication
  • WP2: Transfer: the objective of WP2 is to increase the capacity of recipient institutions to integrate results into policies. Tasks of this WP are related to:
    • Transfer and Liaising strategy (with the TCP)
    • Creation and expansion of project’s Networks within and beyond Euro MED Programme - “Driving Tourism Transitions (DTT) Panel”
    • Sustainable Tourism Policy Labs for Tourism Transformation
    • Establishment and Expansion of Regional/National Sustainable Tourism Observatories
    • Participation in the Euro-Med Academy
    • Coordination with the TCP, the Institutional Dialogue Projects (IDPs) of Missions 1, 2, 3  and the JS
    • Communication
  • WP3 Coordination: The objective of WP3 is to increase coordination between actors acting on the Mediterranean (multi-level, transnational) based on this knowledge, experience and results. Tasks of this WP are related to:
    • Coordination Strategy, according to the international and European agendas related to the Programme's mission and thematic priorities
    • Facilitate cooperation and complementarity between different governance levels (micro, meso, macro scale) through DTT Panel
    • Active dialogue with Initiatives, Strategies and other Programmes (in collaboration with the TCP)
    • Advocacy activities
    • Coordination with the TCP, the IDPs of Missions 1, 2, 3 and the JS
    • Monitoring of carbon footprint compensation
    • Flexibility
