OVERALL OBJECTIVE

The main objectives of the project are to:

  • Strengthen the capacity of public authorities in Mediterranean islands and tourist coastal areas to manage water scarcity.
  • Promote the use of non-conventional water sources like rainwater, stormwater, and treated wastewater.
  • Implement sustainable water demand reduction measures and optimize water distribution systems.
  • Establish transnational Living Labs for hands-on implementation and training.
  • Create a Mediterranean-wide alliance to promote continued cooperation on water scarcity.

ACTIVITIES

To achieve its objectives, AQUAMAN foresees:

  • the development of practical tools to support local water management;
  • the creation of living labs focused on cultural and sustainable tourism, to test solutions in real-life settings;
  • the implementation of pilot measures in islands and coastal regions under high tourist pressure;
  • the sharing of best practices among the different partners and communities involved.
