PROJECT TITLE: AMMON - Training of Jurists on the Rule of Law and Democracy and Support of the Necessary Legal Reforms
COUNTRIES: Sudan
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To train Sudanese jurists on the Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy and support the necessary legal reforms with particular attention to the judicial system, the public administration and the general strengthening of the legislative power.
ACTIVITIES:
The project included:
- The organization of a one-week study visit to Greece for Sudanese jurists and representatives of the Sudanese government; during this visit they participated in seminars held by prominent European experts and were lectured on the Greek and European practices on the subject;
- The organization of one training seminar in Khartoum, Sudan on the “The Electoral Systems in Greece and the European Union” and of two training seminars; the title of the second seminar was “Trade Unions Seminar” and took place at the Teachers’ Hall of the Association of Trade Unions of Sudan; the title of the third seminar was “Civil Service Reform” and took place at the Sudan Academy for Administrative Sciences (SAAS);
- Two one-month scholarships for studies and research in Greece that were awarded to two Sudanese jurists.
