The EPLO organized a study visit of Turkish delegates in Athens, Greece, from 2 to 6 April 2012, within the framework of the Twinning project "Improved Capacity of Civil Enforcement Offices" of Turkey, currently implemented in partnership with the Spanish Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Políticas Públicas (FIIAPP). The delegation consisted of officials from the Turkish Ministry of Justice, judges and an academic, as well as the Turkish project leader, Mr. Mustafa Kemal Özçelik.
The visit was organized to showcase best practices concerning the civil enforcement law in Greece. The delegates visited the Hellenic Supreme Court of Civil and Penal Law (Areios Pagos) and met with the President, Ms. Rena Asimakopoulou, the Hellenic Council of State and met with the President of the 6th Chamber, Mr. Athanasios Rados, the Supreme Court of Audit and met with the President, Mr. Ioannis I. Karavokiris, the Court of Appeals and met with the President, Mr. Ioannis Chamilothoris, the Judges and Prosecutors Association and met with the President, Mr. Charalambos Athanasiou, and President of the Court of First Instance, Mr. Eftichios Nikopoulos, the Hellenic Notary Association and met with the President, Mr. Konstantinos Vlahakis, as well as the Greek Federation of Judicial Officers and met with the President Mr. Dionysios Kriaris.
The delegates also visited the EPLO headquarters in Athens and were welcomed by the EPLO Director, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, as well as the Deputy Director for Management, Mrs. Piji Protopsaltis, as well as participated in a workshop.
During the visits the delegates were warmly received and had the opportunity to fruitfully exchange opinions and views with judges, officials and legal practitioners on the differences between the enforcement systems in Greece and Turkey.
