The second meeting of the Steering Committee for the Twinning Project “Support to the Strengthening of the Ombudsman Office” in Serbia took place in Belgrade on 14 January 2010. The meeting involved the planning, coordination and assessment of the project’s activities.

The project aims at providing support and expertise to the Ombudsman of the Republic of Serbia at the decisive stage of being consolidated and affirmed as an authoritative, independent institution with the mandate to defend the citizen’s rights in Serbia, according to the European standards and the best practices of Ombudsman institutions, as well as establish an efficient, multifunctional and strong network-based system of cooperation among the Ombudsman’s local offices in Serbia, coordinated by the National Ombudsman.

The Greek Ombudsman, the EPLC and the Ombudsman of the Netherlands implement the project, which has a duration of 24 months.
