The EPLO, in collaboration with the Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, organized a seminar on “Environment and Citizenship”, within the framework of the Project “ALEXANDROS - Legal and Judicial Reform in Iran”.
The speakers in this event included representatives from Greece.
The audience consisted mainly of a large number of law students and jurists. The following issues were discussed during the seminar:
• The Protection of the Environment at the crossroad of the new legislative and constitutional challenges
• The Institution of Environmental Impact Assessment in the Greek Law System: A presentation of the key mechanism of preventing the environmental pollution and a critical assessment of its efficiency to serve the principal of sustainable development in the light of the jurisprudence of the Greek Council of State”
• The notion of citizenship and its legal consequences
Ms. P. Protopsaltis, Deputy Director of the EPLO / EPLO, Mr. O. Kaisaris, Associate Researcher/ Project Manager, and Mr. A. Kallinis, Associate Researcher/ Project Managers, represented the EPLO in the aforementioned seminar.
