The large number of great difficulties that are faced in the attempt of social integration of immigrants and refugees in Greece but also in other countries of the European Union, were discussed in a roundtable on the subject “Dialogue of cultures and Interculturality” organized by the Institute of the Mediterranean of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at the conference hall of the EPLO in Plaka, Athens.
According to the speakers, Greece and the other European countries are totally different from the United States, and any other nation that was formed by immigrants. With cultures and traditions formed centuries ago the attempt for intercultural integration in Europe produces many problems while immigrants stand adamant on their own cultures, and mainly their religious origin.
The discussion was coordinated by the Director of the Institute of the Mediterranean Ambassador Sotirios Varouxakis and the speakers included: Profesor Konstantinos Tsoukalas, former Minister Andreas Adrianopoulos, Ambassador Kouzinia Katramadou and Profesor Ismini Kriari.
