Prof. Zarko Obradovic, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, gave a lecture on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the European Public Law Organization on the topic "The Balkans in Europe: the role of Serbia and Greece".
Prof. Obradovic spoke about the current situation in the Balkans and the functional relationship among the Balkan countries focusing on the interstate relations between Serbia and Greece with a historical overview leading to contemporary times. Prof. Obradovic discussed the common issues and problems that Serbia and Greece are dealing with today such as the economic situation and migration crisis, and presented how building good relations with the Peoples Republic of China could be of value for both countries.
Also, he analyzed the stance of the European Union towards Serbia’s candidacy to become a member in regards to the problem of Kosovo and the position of Greece as a member of the EU.
In conclusion, Prof. Obradovic proposed that Serbia and Greece should combine forces in helping Europe understand the problems that the Balkans is facing, so as to move toward the necessary solution.
Introducing the speaker, the Director of EPLO Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, emphasized the close relationship between the international Organization and the Republic of Serbia which is among the first countries who joined the EPLO.
Following the lecture a number of interesting questions were made by the audience which Prof. Obradovic answered enthusiastically.
