“The influence of Aristotle in the Byzantine literature” was the subject of an event organized by the “Institute of Humanities and Culture N. Svoronos” of European Public Law Organization (EPLO) as part of the celebrations for the Year of Aristotle, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the premise of the Organization in Plaka, Athens.
Through a number of books by Byzantine commentators of Aristotle, speakers and audience discussed how the ideas of the great Greek philosopher were acknowledged during the era of Empire and prevalence of Christianity.

¦ Theodoros Georgiou, Professor of political philosophy and
¦ Ioannis Telelis, Researcher of the Academy of Athens.
The first part of the event was moderated by Professor Calliopi (Kelly) Bourdara, Director of the Institute of Humanities and Culture N. Svoronos and the second by the Theologian, Historian and Doctor of History Dimitris Mouzakis.
The welcome address given by the Director of the EPLO Professor Spyridon Flogaitis who stressed inter alia that this event contributes to the review of a widespread but mistaken impression that the West discovered Aristotle through the Arabs and not by the Byzantines.
