Constitutional revision and the welfare state

Constitutional revision is imminent and one extremely important issue is the changes likely to take place regarding the welfare state; the welfare state which, during the current economic crisis is according to some, the victim, and according to others, the solution to the problem.

In the framework of the dialogue which began with a series of lectures ahead of the revision of the Constitution, the European Public Law Organization is organizing, together with the Association of Greek Constitutionalists and the European University of Cyprus, an event-dialogue on this issue (Monday, 10 June 2013, main EPLO premises, Achaiou 16, Dexameni, Kolonaki, commencing at 7pm).

The event, entitled "Constitutional Revision: the Welfare State", will take place under the presidency of the Emeritus Professor of the University of Athens and President of the Association of Greek Constitutionalists, Prof. Kostas Mavrias, and with the following speakers:

Gerasimos Arsenis, Former Minister, President of INERPOST, "The Welfare State: victim of or solution to the economic crisis"

Nikos Konstantopoulos, Former President of Synaspismos Party, Former Minister, "The technique of numbers and the culture of Democracy"

Savas Robolis, Professor at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, "Economic Crisis and the Welfare State"

Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Professor at the Law School of the University of Athens, MP, Former Minister, "The Revision of the Constitution towards the reinforcement of the guarantees of the welfare state"

The conclusions will be presented by Dr. Manolis Benteniotis, Professor at the European University of Cyprus, Former MP and Deputy Minister.
