CECCI Deputy Director Analyses COP30 and UNEP/MAP COP24 Outcomes

A new article by Mrs. Fay Selimi, Attorney at Law, Economist, and Deputy Director of the Circular Economy & Climate Institute of the EPLO (CECCI),  examines the outcomes of COP30 in Belém and UNEP/MAP COP24, with a focus on climate action, circular economy policies, and regional cooperation.

Mrs. Selimi represented the EPLO at UNEP/MAP COP24, during which the organization was officially accredited as a MAP Partner, further strengthening its institutional role within the Mediterranean environmental governance framework.

In her analysis, Mrs. Selimi reviews key decisions and developments emerging from both processes, highlighting their implications for climate governance, environmental protection, and the transition to more sustainable economic models. In the article, she approaches these developments from the perspective of climate governance, the energy transition, and the geopolitics of the Mediterranean.

She places particular emphasis on the need to integrate circular economy approaches into climate policy and to strengthen multilateral frameworks at global and regional levels. The article underlines the importance of coherent, long-term strategies that link climate ambition, circularity, and resilience, while also pointing to the critical role of regional cooperation in translating high-level commitments into concrete action.
