The EPLO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria, organized a study visit of Bulgarian delegates in Greece on 25 - 29 June 2007, within the framework of the Twinning Project “Further Strengthening of Border Control and Management of the Future EU External Borders through Modernization of Technical Equipment, Development of Centralized Information Systems and Introduction of EU Best Practices and Standards in the Field of Border Control”.
The Bulgarian delegation consisted of Mr. L. Elenkov, Bulgarian Project Leader and Director of the Coordination, Information and Analysis Directorate (CIAD), Mr. E. Aleksov, Component Leader and Head of Information Technologies Department (CIAD), Mr. V. Angelov, Head of Department, Institute of Computer Technology (CIAD), Mr. G. Gerov, Component Leader, Commissioner of the Border Police General Directorate, Mr. B. Kostadinov, Head of Information Systems Sector in the Border Police General Directorate, Mrs. D. Mihaylova Dimitrova, a senior Expert from the Institute of Computer Technology, and Mrs. N. Petkova Masleva - Dancheva, Assistant to the Resident Twinning Advisor.
The delegation had meetings with high-ranking personnel from numerous General Directorates of the Hellenic Ministry of Public Order, including the Department of Information Technologies, the Department for Aliens and the Department of SIRENE / Foreign Cooperation. The team also visited the Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos”, and more precisely its Police General Directorate.
