2nd Round of Seminars in the Framework of the XENOPHON Project

The EPLO, in collaboration with the Center of Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia and the RA Inter-institutional Commission on trafficking, organized a seminar on “Legal guarantees against trafficking”, within the framework of the Project “XENOPHON - Training of Jurists on the Rule of Law and Support of the Necessary Legal Reforms”.

The speakers in this event included representatives from the Department of Children Rights of the Greek Ombudsman, the Ministry of Justice, the Yerevan State University, and the Constitutional Court of Armenia.

The audience consisted mainly of representatives from human right NGOs, as well as international organizations including OSCE, INDP, USAID, ABA/CEELI, and CE, officials from Government of Armenia and different ministries, Deputies of National Assembly, Deputy General Prosecutor, legal scholars from Yerevan State University, representatives of Ombudsman office, representatives of the Association of Judges and staff members of the Constitutional Court participated at the seminar. The event was covered by the media reports of TV stations, news agencies and newspapers.

The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

  • Legal instruments to combat child Trafficking 
  • Trafficking in women: A gender-specific violation of human rights 
  • Problems of Trafficking in the Republic of Armenia 
  • Trafficking: problems of theory and practice
