1st Seminar in the Framework of the INTERREG III A GREECE-CYPRUS “Specialized Education and Training towards Trans Border Cooperation” Project

The EPLO, in collaboration with the Cyprus Academy of Public Administration, organized the first training seminar on “Immigration Issues and Social Welfare” in Chania, Crete, within the framework of the Project INTERREG III A GREECE-CYPRUS “Specialized Education and Training towards Trans Border Cooperation”.

The speakers in this event included Ms. F. Katsarou and Ms. O. Apostolopoulou, sociologists and trainers specialized in social policies and welfare.

The participants included 12 civil servants from the Municipalities and the Prefectures of Crete.

The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

  • Social policy: history and modern tendencies
  • State social welfare
  • Social exclusion 
  • Immigrants and refugees
  • Racism
  • Social inclusion of foreigners in Cyprus

Ms. A. Drandaki, EPLO / Associate Researcher/ Project Manager, represented the EPLO in the aforementioned seminar.
