The EPLO, in collaboration with its local partners BCCP, Odhikar and ODPUP, organized the first seminar on “Democratic electoral processes”, within the framework of the Project “DEMOS - Democratic Elections Motivation, Orientation and Support”.
The speakers in this event included representatives from the University of Parma, Italy, the European University of Florence, Italy and Sweden.
The audience consisted mainly of the state authorities, NGO representatives, jurists, academics and students.
The following issues were discussed during the seminar:
- The role of elections in the democratic process
- The right to vote, to be elected and to form parties
- Electoral reforms
- The electoral system in Bangladesh
Ms. R. Oudjani, Head of the Scientific/ Educational Unit of the EPLO, represented the EPLO in the aforementioned seminar.
